The science behind acupuncture

Research has shown the efficacy of acupuncture vs. a placebo for decades. Acupuncture is known to work in four key ways:

  • Direct response releasing tight muscles and trigger points
  • Stimulating the central nervous system, creating biochemical changes
  • Increasing circulation + reducing inflammation throughout the body
  • Restoring normal brain functioning via homeostatic effects

Acupuncture points are a meeting place of blood, nerve, lymph and an access point to the body’s messenger system of connective tissue. It works via the fascia to send messages to stimulate the brain. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain.

These biochemical changes stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.
