How does stress show up in your life—and how do you manage it?
As someone who has been managing anxiety for years, stress and stressors have had a constant presence in my life. Physically, I carry a lot of stress and tension in my shoulders and neck, and have found stress to greatly impact my sleep and appetite as well. To manage my stress I have added a variety of solutions to my toolkit over the years including practicing yoga and pilates, attending therapy, going for walks outside, trying to practice good sleep hygiene, and most recently receiving acupuncture!
Do you have a go-to stress ritual or routine?
Sunlight and movement - I swear by a quick walk outside to clear my mind!!
How has acupuncture or cupping supported your stress relief?
I have found that my stress "spikes" have greatly reduced the weeks that I receive acupuncture and that a large reason for that is how it has contributed to improvement in my sleep.
Outside of WTHN, are there apps, supplements, or rituals that help you stay calm?
I love the Oura Ring app to track my sleep and stress levels, Melissa Wood Health's platform for daily attainable workouts, getting outside after waking up to sneak in some sort of movement and the Hatch alarm clock to help with my sleep habits and quality!
What’s your reminder or mantra when stress starts to rise?
I practice a breakwork technique I learned from the amazing Corene while cold plunging at Remedy Place - I breathe in for a count of 4 and out for 6. Also this too shall pass!
Taylor Swift or Sultan + Shepard
Cancer
I love them all but recently have especially loved Jessica, she is so knowledgeable and has the most calming presence.
